For the third time in 2026 the BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series will head to Zwartkops Raceway this coming weekend (12-13 June), and Round 4 could potentially see significant changes at the top of the Turbo Cup points table.

One of the biggest unanswered questions at present relates to the current points leader, Anton Pommersheim. As per the entry list made available by the Extreme Festival tour on Monday, 8 June, the Class A driver is still unaccounted for. Having moved into the class at the start of the season, Pommersheim has since produced a host of strong results, which sees him comfortably on top of the Class A points table, and with a 10-point lead in the Turbo Cup.

While Pommersheim’s top spot in the Turbo Cup will certainly be under threat, his missing entry may just be his saving grace to hold onto his Class A lead. At present, there are only three entrants in Class A, which means that the maximum amount of points available, is 18. Pommersheim is currently 23 points ahead of Lenard Archer. It will be a closer contest for second place, with Bob Neill and Leon Loubser, respectively, one and three points behind Archer.

Class B will also not be eligible for a full points allocation at present, with four drivers on the current entry list. Heading up this group at present is Renier Smith, holding a 22-point advantage over Carlo Garbini, the only other driver currently listed as having scored in the class. However, there are two changes on the cards here as well, after the introduction of a new rule which sees Class B competitors also now eligible to run on slick tyres. Ethan Coetzee started the season in Class C and moved to Class A for Round 3, but having failed to record the minimum time to remain in the class, will now slot into Class B. Bilal Ahmed will now also move to Class B from Class A. Therefore the revised Class B points table sees Smith still on 27 points, Coetzee now second with 22, while Ahmed, with three, slots in behind Garbini, with five.

While Class C does not have any new rules or question marks over available points, this could well be the class with the most eye on in this weekend. Bennie Luyt has become the third leader in as many rounds. His 42 points sees him six ahead of his class rival and former leader Anand Naidu, but only 10 behind Pommersheim in the Turbo Cup. Another solid weekend at Zwartkops Raceway, like he had in Round 2 at the circuit, could see him finish the weekend on top of both Class C and the Turbo Cup. Not that Naidu, who has a chance to do the same, will be making that part easy for him. In fact, Naidu’s best weekend of the year also came at Zwartkops Raceway, albeit in the season opener. 11 points behind Naidu, are Wessel Mostert and Oz Biagioni. Mostert is on a good run at present, having recorded his best weekend in the recent third round at Red Star Raceway, which saw him take his first win of the season. Biagioni is on the back of a lean spell, but started his season strong by taking the early Turbo Cup after Round 1. Fifth-placed Cameron Christian is another notable omission from the entry list, which could work in the favour of Hein van der Merwe, the 2025 BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series Class C champion, who is yet to record his first podium finish of the season. Other drivers to watch for will be Kyan Boodaya, Nicky Dicks, Reinhardt Miller, Salvi Gualtieri, and Varish Ganpath. Miller is also on the back of his first Turbo Cup win of the season.

Class D is close contest on it’s own, with seven points separating the top five. Michael Grobler, whose near-perfect Round 3 outing saw him jump to the top of the class points table, is another driver in with a potential chance of grabbing the top spot in the Turbo Cup. Eugene Gouws has had a steady run of form, while former leader Craig Herbst will be eager to make up for his zero-sum Red Star Raceway visit. Johan Miller and Gerald Anthony are the other two contenders. Alan Hilligenn, Gerhard du Plessis, Willie Kok, and Sayen Moodley are the other regular contenders who will be in action.

Saturday’s races will start at 11:25 and 14:50, and will be contested over 10 and 12 laps respectively. Spectator tickets will be available at the Zwartkops Raceway entrance gate. The full Extreme Festival race day will be broadcast live via the Extreme Festival website from 11:00.
