Jonathan Mogotsi & champion brothers Charl & Kyle Visser

Volkswagen Motorsport commences a brand new racing season with an old hand, and two hot Volkswagen champion young gun brothers at the wheel of its three factory cars for 2024. Charl and Kyle Visser delivered a fairy tale story as each won significant Volkswagen championship to claim their respective factory drives alongside regular driver Jonathan Mogotsi this year.

Charl Michael Visser’s dominant championship performance saw him take the 2023 Polo Cup title against a crack field of top young chargers to earn his seat alongside Jonathan Mogotsi in a pair of Volkswagen Motorsport SupaPolos in South African Touring Cars SupaCup for 2024. Kyle Visser meanwhile won the inaugural 2023 Volkswagen Rookie Cup to claim his 2024 Volkswagen Motorsport Astron Energy Polo Cup drive.

Twice second and once third in the SupaCup championship, 2023 runner up Jonathan Mogotsi has every intention of taking the 2024 title. “It’s been close for the past few seasons and just a few points in it last year, so the plan is definitely to take that title at last this year!” Jonathan warned. “It won’t be easy though, even if I’ve often beaten them, my main rivals will be hard to beat to the championship. But hey, why not!”

Polo Cup champion Charl Michael Visser is revelling at the prospect of his SATC SupaCup debut. “I have raced a SupaPolo several times in endurance and regional races and also did a fair amount of testing in my new Volkswagen Motorsport car, so I think I’m ready, Charl Michael admits. “But it’s still a big learning curve and I have some really hot drivers to beat, never mind my teammate!”

Like his big brother, Kyle Visser simply cannot wait to get his teeth into his maiden Astron Polo Cup for Volkswagen Motorsport. “I have also spent time testing and raced Charl Michael’s championship winning car in a regional race,” Kyle pointed out. “So I believe I’m well prepared. Astron Energy Polo Cup is however a tough nut to crack, so I am under no illusions, but I’m ready to fight hard to succeed.”

“2024 promises a thrilling new season for Volkswagen Motorsport,” Head of Volkswagen Driving Experience, Mike Rowe concludes. “We are most excited to go into battle with a trio of proven young guns at the wheel. Charl Michael and Kyle have done the Visser family so proud by earning their drives, and Jonathan is ready to finally take that title. We wish all three the very best of luck for their 2024 campaigns!”
