70 YEARS OF FERRARI RACING IN SOUTHERN AFRICA
“Everyone dreams of driving a Ferrari; it was my intent from the start.” These words by Enzo Ferrari set the stage for a monumental new publication diving into rich history and passion.
SA Motorsport Memories, in collaboration with Pablo Clark Racing, is proud to announce the official release of 70 Years of Ferrari Racing in Southern Africa. This landmark publication documents the rich, previously untold history of the Scuderia’s racing legacy across the region in unprecedented detail.
The book was officially unveiled at an exclusive media launch hosted by Pablo Clark Racing on 7 May 2026, roughly situated where the original Kyalami straight once ran.
Spanning 384 pages in a premium large-format (300 mm x 240 mm) edition, the volume presents the most comprehensive account to date of Ferrari’s participation in Southern African motorsport. The narrative follows the Prancing Horse from its regional debut in 1955 through to the modern era, capturing the passion of a brand.
A visual masterpiece, the book features over 650 carefully curated images, many of which are being seen by the public for the first time. In a nod to the brand’s Maranello roots, each image is accompanied by detailed captions in both English and Italian.
For enthusiasts, collectors, and historians, the publication serves as both a stunning visual showcase and an exhaustive reference work. The level of detail is extraordinary, including:
- Over 650 rare photographs, many sourced from private collections.
- Comprehensive race results and event histories spanning 70 years.
- Technical specifications and chassis numbers.
- Historical driver line-ups and personal stories.
Beyond the machinery, the book pays tribute to the legendary drivers, engineers, and personalities who shaped Ferrari’s success on Southern African soil. It further explores the vital roles of SEFAC (the Southern Equatorial Ferrari Automobile Club) and Pablo Clark Racing in fostering the local Ferrari community.
In tribute, the book is dedicated to the late Giorgio Cavalieri (1947–2020), a central figure in Ferrari’s history in South Africa.
70 Years of Ferrari Racing in Southern Africa is the first work of its kind—a definitive, high-quality record of passion, precision, and the enduring magic of Ferrari in the south of the continent.
