De Klerk out to make it three out of three at Barberspan
TreasuryONE Racing driver Hennie de Klerk is out to turn his TreasuryONE FIA T1+ Toyota Hilux debut victory a few weeks ago, into an epic double, or even triple win on the trot at TIORC regional cross country double header at the Barberspan 500 on the weekend of 5 and 6 May.
De Klerk and Adriaan Roets stormed to a sensational debut win against a highly competitive field abord the brand new machine at the season-opening Stella race and now Hennie fully intends to extend his title advantage with new notes man Juan Mohr at his side in race 2 as the classic Barberspan 500 rally raid returns as part of the TIORC season.
“Stella was a wonderful result, but I’d like to believe that’s only the start!” Hennie de Klerk smiled, “The new car was fantastic to drive right out the box, so now that we have had a race to get to know it and dial the TreasuryONE FIA T1+ Toyota Hilux in a bit, there’s no reason we cannot do the same again at Barberspan.
“We also have a change of staff for Barberspan,” Hennie pointed out. “I have had a fantastic run with Adriaan at my side, but looking ahead to Dakar 2024, we have opted for a navigator who also has significant technical skills. “We have made the change now, to ensure that Juan Mohr and I can also build up a strong relationship long before we head to the Dakar.
“In a nutshell, Juan has six Dakars under his belt, both as navigator and crew for Century Racing, and I have opted for his combined experience and technical skills over and above his navigation experience. I would like to thank Adriaan for his incredible contribution to our TreasuryONE racing efforts, but we now look forward to a new era as I build up to the Dakar with Juan in the Hilux T1+.
“So, Juan and I are ready, our WCT engineered T1+ Hilux proved a winner out the box and Tjaart van der Walt has been hard at work refining the package. That debut victory was a dream result, so a repeat win, or two, would be even cooler!”
TreasuryONE Racing is racing its new FIA T1+ Toyota Hilux in the TIORC in preparation for 2018 rookie winner de Klerk’s third Dakar Rally in 2024. The WCT Engineering machine is designed to deliver serious amateur drivers with a vehicle capable of taking on the best, while still racing on a reasonable budget.
