Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 July 2026
Zwartkops Raceway | Pretoria
South Africa’s most exciting uphill motorsport challenge returns to Zwartkops Raceway on 25 and 26 July 2026, where over 75 competitors will battle against the clock in a spectacular display of speed, engineering and driver skill.
Now in its third year at Zwartkops Raceway, Top of the Hill has quickly established itself as one of the country’s most anticipated motorsport events, attracting an incredible variety of historic racing cars, modern performance vehicles, modified production cars, sports racers and single-seaters.
Unlike conventional circuit racing, there are no wheel-to-wheel battles. Instead, competitors have one objective… produce the fastest possible run up the famous 2-kilometre hill course. Every run demands absolute precision, commitment and courage, where fractions of a second can separate victory from defeat.
Saturday – A Celebration of Motorsport Heritage
Saturday’s programme belongs to the legends of South African motorsport.
Thirty-three classic and historic competition cars will tackle the hill, from beautifully restored MGs and Austin A35s to Cobras, Porsche legends, historic single-seaters and some of the country’s most iconic locally-built racing cars.
Among the entries are remarkable South African specials including the Protea Ford, GSM Dart, Dovey 626, Lolette V8, Thompson Special and Marauder—machines that tell the story of a generation of South African engineers who designed and built world-class racing cars when importing factory-built racers simply wasn’t an option.
The day concludes with the Classic Car Class Final, before the fastest competitors battle it out in the Top of the Hill Classic Conqueror Shootout.
Sunday – Modern Performance Unleashed
Sunday shifts the focus to modern performance.
Forty-two competitors will contest classes ranging from high-performance road cars and modified production vehicles to sports racers and spectacular single-seaters.
Expect to see everything from Volkswagen Golf GTIs and Porsche GT cars to Ferrari, Nissan GT-Rs, Shelby Super Snakes, Alfa Romeos, Audis, Formula cars and the breathtaking Gould GR55 as competitors chase class victories before the day’s three Shootouts determine the fastest drivers in each category.
