After a 10-week break in the racing calendar, the drought is finally over as Round 2 of the Regional Extreme Festival and 111 GT Sports & Saloons storms back into action this weekend at the fast and technical Red Star Raceway in the farmlands of Delmas.
This round brings an exciting format shake-up, with competitors taking on three 6-lap heats across the weekend, adding even more racing action for fans and drivers alike. Qualifying gets underway on Friday afternoon, setting the stage for what promises to be a blockbuster Saturday.
Title sponsor Digit FMS has once again joined forces with 947, with the 947 AMP Squad set to broadcast live from the circuit during the Saturday Top 40 show, bringing the energy of Red Star directly to listeners across Gauteng. A new chapter begins for these drivers as they take their first steps into one of Gauteng’s most competitive saloon category.

Championship battles are already heating up in the 111 category, where a three-way tie for the championship lead sees Charl Weyers, Piet Potgieter and Wayne Odendaal locked together on 21 points. Just behind them, Henry Van Vledder and Rob Clark are tied on 19, while the fight for the midfield remains razor-thin with multiple drivers separated by just a handful of points.
In GT, Jared Rossouw leads the way on 21 points, with Wouter Roos chasing on 19, followed by Marius Truter on 17, Wayne Robb on 15 and Mark du Toit rounding out the top five on 13.
Special awards are once again on the line, including the ever-popular Pole Position Award, proudly backed by Well-Netix, which sees pole-sitters in each class pocketing R1,000 cash. The Dog Fight Of The Day Award also returns, rewarding the two drivers who produce the fiercest cleanest on-track battle for the day with a R500 First Race voucher, judged by the voice of choice, Greg Maloney.
For fans unable to make it to the circuit, all the action will once again be streamed live on YouTube via the Extreme Festival channel, while 947’s live crossings with the AMP Squad will keep the wider audience plugged into the action throughout the day.
Round 2 is set. The fields are stacked. The championship fight is tightening.
