An ideal Cape Town’s day delivers epic Max action

The Western Cape Rotax Max karting community finally got down to serious racing once again after the past two rain-affected rounds were stopped early. A perfect Cape’s day however delivered some superb regional karting action on Saturday.

A splendid day of premier Rotax DD2 racing topped the bill with three different winners on the day. Sebastian Boyd took advantage of better results in the other races to beat new South African champion Jason Coetzee and a delighted second heat winner Matthew Wadeley to overall honours. Ethan Coetzee was fourth from Anwil April and the troubled Joseph Oelz. Jared Jordan meantime beat Conor Hughes two races to one to take DD2 Masters with Jonathan Pieterse third.

Keagan Beaumont benefited race 1 and 2 winner, another newly-crowned Cape National champion Charl Michael Visser hitting trouble to win the final Rotax Senior Max heat and take the day from Jordon Wadeley and Visser. Luca Wehrli ended third for the day from Matthew Carter, Tristan Botha, Geo Christi, and Reece Ward. Aiden Beaumont made it a family double when he beat Michael Danks two races to one to take high school Junior Max honours from Raffaele Musso, Zach McAuley, and Justin Milleskie.

Liam Wharton won under-13 Rotax Mini Max with two heat wins to one over Max Boshoff with Ruhan Victor third for the day from Jayden van der Merwe, Zac Boshoff and Jose Slamet. Yaqeen Gamieldien and Radhi Harris ended up tied on points in under-11 Rotax Micro Max. But Yaqeen took the day with two wins to Radhi’s one, ahead of Logan Roehrig, Jake Steyn, and Caleb Lingeveldt. And Divaaj Govender continued to dominate the baby Bambinos with Ashlyn Beaumont, Aleena Doutie and Emelee Adriaans in chase.

WP Rotax Max must still catch up a round following the rain dates returns, but round 8 is scheduled for 8 November at Killarney. The Northern Regions karters meantime return to action for their fifth round up at Formula K this coming Saturday 27 September.
