Motorsport South Africa joins the South African motorsport community in mourning the passing of Dave Estment.
A fearless competitor, Dave raced professionally from 1979 to 1985, representing South Africa and competing in the 250cc class at the South African Grand Prix. In 1985 at Kyalami he brought a Honda RS250 home in 23rd, a testament to his grit and pace.
After retiring from racing, Dave built a respected career in action and wildlife photography and videography. He and his wife Naomi founded Outdoor Video & Photographic in January 2001, and his work has been widely published since the 1990s. A toolmaker by trade who studied mechanical engineering, Dave brought a maker’s mindset to everything he did.
He will be remembered for his fearlessness, his passion for life and his trademark grin. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Naomi and the Estment family.
