Big team effort as VAPS Red-Lined T1 Cup kicks off
It’s taken a while, but Red-Lined Motorsport is ready and champing at the bit for albeit a very late season-opening South African Rally-Raid Championship opener at Bronkhorspruit on Friday 27 June and Saturday 28 June. The racing year started with a bang with the World Championship Safari Rally in May, but now the national events commence with no less than eight Red-Lined teams lining up, half of which will compete in the inaugural VAPS HCV sponsored Red-Lined T1 Cup.
“The national season is finally set to kick off this weekend and we have a cracking line-up of hot young pros together with a sparkling field of privateers ready to race,” Red-Lined Motorsport team principal Terence Marsh confirmed. “The more exciting news however is the start of our VAPS Red-Lined T1 Cup.
“Aimed at creating a single manufacture type series for all our Red-Lined T1 class privateers, the VAPS Red-Lined T1 Cup will offer more than a hundred-thousand rand of prizes for the top Red-Lined T1 crew in the 2025 South African Rally Raid Championship. The overall 2025 VAPS Red-Lined T1 Cup winner’s prize package will consist of a spare parts package for the 2026 season together with other value-added contributions from our partners at BF Goodrich, Motul and Dragon Energy.
“Looking at the teams lining up for the weekend, we have a truly diverse line-up of a trio of our top FIA T1+ REVO GTR entries as well as our ever-dependable T1 REVOs, VK56s and VK50s across both local and international crews competing. So, the Bronkhorspruit event which will be run from the Legends Adventure Farm is going to be a pretty exciting and busy weekend for Red-Lined Motorsport.”
Topping Red-Lined Motorsport’s factory T1+ attack and fresh off their giant-killing performance at the Safari Rally, Jayden Els and Johann Swemmer continue in the latest generation REVO T1+ GTR. They will compete alongside Dutch driver ?Rients Hofstra, who will have his regular international navigator Evert Boersma at his side for the first time in a South African round in a similar GTR race machine.
The experienced Dutch couple Dave and Tessa Klaassen will be making a welcome return in their DaklaPack Rallysport powered REVO T1+ GTR. Backing up the REVO T1+ entries will be Danie Ludick and Denzil Williamson, who will be looking to continue their current form following their spectacular Safari debut aboard their new Elegant Fuels powered REVO T1+ V8. Unfortunately, the ever-consistent Penta Motor Group pairing of Philip Botha and Roelof and Janse van Vuren have business commitments and will miss the first event of the season.
The rest of the Red-Lined entries qualify to compete in the new VAPS Red-Lined T1 Cup. Sirkel N duo, South African T1 champion Gerhard and Rudi Heinlein come fresh off their World Championship class win in their Red-Lined VK56 and will compete alongside team mates Nickus Heinlein and Jaco Kriel in their Red-Lined VK50.
Johan de Bruyn and Adriaan Roets will be another top Red-Lined crew chasing T1 Cup glory in their Falken Tyres sponsored REVO T1. All these South African teams will however have to deal with the added complication of the Belgian duo Vincent Vroninks and Dave Berghmans who will be debuting on South African soil in their newly acquired Red-Lined VK56.
“Bronkhorspruit will be another big weekend for us” Terence concludes.” Not only do we have eight cars on the starting line, which represents a good spread of our team entries as well as our privateer entries, it is also the start of our new and exciting VAPS HCV sponsored Red-Lined T1 Cup which we aim to grow in the foreseeable future.
With the race right on Jozi’s doorstep we also really look forward to a competitive and adventurous weekend with the added opportunity to share all of this together with our loyal Gauteng supporter base.”
*Red-Lined Motorsport competes with premium strategic partners, the Penta Motor Group, VAPS HCV, BF Goodrich, Motul, Dragon Energy, OMP, Ingco South Africa and ExpandaSign.
