SA rally-raid carmaker leads two National classes

The coming 28 and 29 August weekend is another crucial date for Red-Lined Motorsport and the entire 2026 South African Rally-Raid Championship when the Century Racing Outeniqua 400 finally charges off the starting line in the Southern Cape. Delayed at the eleventh hour due to extreme storms in the area in April, it now becomes a critical round of the championship for four of the Red-Lined privateer teams who are in the hunt for overall championship glory in their respective classes.

“We have six race cars headed to Outeniqua as we focus on maintaining our championship advantage in both the SA T1+ and T1 Adventure classes,” Red-Lined Group CEO Terence Marsh explains. “The SA T1+ chase is super close between two of our Red-Lined REVO T1+ V8 teams, where the Penta Motor Group pairing of Philip Botha and Andries Mynhardt hold a slight advantage at the top of the table over the KEC Racing father and son duo, Johan and Sean van Staden.

“Then in T1 class, we have Peet Victor and Van Zyl Jonck leading that championship chase in their VAPS HCV Rally-Raid Red-Lined VK50. Second in class are the young guns, Nielen Marx and Rickus Hattingh in their Red-Lined VK50. So, our primary focus in what will be a challenging weekend, will be on protecting our double championship advantage in what is predicted to be a tough and technical race across the varying Outeniqua terrain.

“Our final two customer entries are from the Daklapack Rallysport stable, with the ever-popular Dutch pairing of Dave and Tessa Klaassen returning in their DKR Evo T1+ GTR. Their teammates, fellow Dutchmen, Herman Jasper and Mark Laan make their South African debut in their DKR Evo T1+ V8.

An exciting weekend as it is the first time that Daklapack will have two of their new DKR Evo’s on the start line of the National series. Rally-Raid fans will immediately notice that these race cars are quite unique and eye-catching!”

The Century Outeniqua 400 runs from the Louvain Guest Farm midway between George and Uniondale in the spectacular southern Cape’s Garden Route on Friday and Saturday 28 and 29 August.
