In a close knit fraternity such as the Western Cape Rally Championship those who follow the sport inevitably become well known to all in whatever capacity they may be involved.

The sport of rallying lost a big man on 6 April 2023 when Brendon Marshall “Bones” Alexander was unexpectedly called to higher order. Born in Bellville on 20 May 1981 and raised in Crawford the 41 year old Grassy Park resident and rally supporter became a popular walking, talking, encyclopedia on the sport at all levels and though his heart was Blue Oval he held the achievements of others in high regard.

Who could not be a fan of the mighty Audi Quattro or the one and only Sarel van der Merwe?
Locally the Sasol Ford Laser 4×4’s were his absolute highlight and no matter what the weather did, or the time of day or night, his friendly face would more than likely make an appearance on every event.

Sadly, Alexander was diagnosed with a genetic heart disease on 27 March 2023 and passed away during triple heart bypass surgery on 27 March 2023.

He leaves a loving wife Wendy-Joy Alexander, daughters Zoë-Joy (17) and Kezia (8), Mom (Desiree) and sister (Melissa Gordon).

Most come and go in sport, only the true rallyists stay for the ride.

You will be missed Bones!

At the time of posting no funeral arrangements had been confirmed. Friends and family may contact Wendy-Joy Alexander on 082 510 0919
