Motorsport South Africa (MSA) recently hosted its 2026 Media Photography & Safety Training Workshops in Gauteng and the Western Cape, with a total of 10 delegates taking part across the two sessions.
The workshops are an important part of MSA’s ongoing efforts to develop the next generation of motorsport media, giving new photographers and videographers the opportunity to learn about working safely and professionally at live motorsport events.
The programme combined classroom-based theory with practical trackside experience, covering key areas such as motorsport safety, working trackside, photography techniques and the responsibilities of media personnel at MSA-sanctioned events.
The Gauteng session was held at Zwartkops International Raceway on 25 and 26 September, while the Western Cape session took place at Killarney International Raceway on 26 September.
Training was led by experienced motorsport photographers Dave Ledbitter and Abri de Bruin, who shared their knowledge and practical experience with the delegates.
The workshops form part of MSA’s media accreditation programme and are mandatory for trainee photographers working towards official MSA accreditation. They also provide an opportunity for aspiring motorsport photographers and videographers to gain practical experience and a better understanding of the responsibilities that come with working trackside.
MSA thanks all 10 delegates for joining the programme and taking the next step towards becoming part of the motorsport media community.
