Motorsport South Africa (MSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of the following individuals to the MSA National Court of Appeal, as approved at the Board of Directors meeting held on the 31 March 2026.
Advocate Veruschka September
She holds a LL.M. International Business Law (International Sports Law) from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She brings extensive governance and disciplinary experience. She currently serves on the PSL Disciplinary Committee, has acted as a member of MSA’s Court of Enquiry and Court of Appeal structures since 2023 and was the Legal Advisor in South Africa for MATCH Event Services, FIFA’s agent and service provider for official ticketing, accommodation and IT, for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and related events. This also marks a historic milestone for MSA as she is the first woman appointed to the NCA.
Advocate Francois van der Merwe
An experienced High Court advocate and member of the Pretoria Society of Advocates. He possesses a strong background in civil litigation, administrative, and commercial law, with appearances in the Supreme Court of Appeal. He has actively served within MSA’s Court of Enquiry and Court of Appeal structures since 2021.
Jacques van der Merwe
An established attorney with over 40 years of legal experience specialising in litigation, contractual disputes, and dispute resolution. His practical motorsport involvement spans six decades, encompassing active roles in race organisation, timekeeping, team management, and club structures.
MSA Chief Executive Officer, Vic Maharaj, welcomed the appointments:
“These appointments bring together a wealth of legal and motorsport experience, which is essential in ensuring that matters are handled fairly, consistently and with the level of professionalism expected within our sport. We are confident that their contribution will further strengthen the integrity of our judicial processes.”
These appointments strengthen the depth of legal expertise and experience within MSA’s judicial structures, supporting the fair and effective adjudication of motorsport matters in South Africa.
