Unbeaten at Killarney, Bezuidenhout is the Red Star favourite
Unlike the rest of the 2026 National Extreme Festival classes that have not raced there for a couple of seasons, Investchem MSA4 returns to the Red Star Raceway near Delmas on Saturday 18 April having raced there last season. Whatever difference that makes, it will not change the fact that championship leader Mikel Bezuidenhout will be in all his rivals’ crosshairs following his grand slam start to the 2026 season at Killarney in Cape Town last time out.
Corsa Dei Gemelli MSA4 lad Bezuidenhout kicked off with pole position, won both races and scored the fastest lap to come away leading the championship off a full haul of points in the Cape. Staying with the formbook, former British Formula 4 racer Aqil Alibhai should be Mikel’s closest rival in his Kokoro MSA4, now that Keegan Campos has returned to South African Touring Cars. Never rule MSA4 regulars, Shrien Naidoo’s Production X car, Renzo Ribeiro’s Metal Used ATT version, Karabo Malemela’s KMFT Morita MSA4, Kent Swartz and Liam Polome’s Red Dot Vantage machine out, either.
Several rookies look promising too. Not least of all Guido Bidoli, who will be keen on a more consistent weekend at Red Star. Other newcomers include Kokoro Reach for a Dream lad Chase Haskins, Corsa Dei Gemelli freshman Wianko Fourie, Aadam Kajee’s 76 Legacy WOrr entry and Ndzalo Khoza’s Horizon Dynamics MSA4. Lady racers, Apex Cordset Kokoro sophomore Anastasia Gerasis, another rookie, Gianna Pascoal’s 76 Legacy WOrr machine and Investchem lass Simphiwe Mohlahlo certainly also add much interest.
Racing with the Investchem MSA4s, the old school Formula Ford Kents will be gunning for another driver who dominated last time out, Ian Schofield’s Investchem Mygale. He has Van Diemen trio, teammate Allen Meyer, Magnificent Paint & Hardware lad Nicholas van Weely, and DV entry Alex Vos. A great day out, the Investchem MSA4s and the rest of the National Extreme Festival promise epic action and entertainment at a fine facility suitably close to Gauteng and just off exit 485 on the N12 Freeway. See you at Red Star!
