The second round of the South African Rotax MAX Challenge (SARMC) is taking place at Zwartkops Kart Raceway this weekend. The event will showcase the karting skills of Adriaan Steyn, the 2023 National Bambino Champion, aiming to move up the Micro MAX championship standings. While he is determined to impress at his home race and with his best performance, he is hungry to stand on the top step of the podium again.

Adriaan is determined to face the upcoming race at Pretoria with renewed confidence despite his challenges at Killarney’s opening round. He knows well what it takes to steer his championship campaign back on track and is eager to prove it this weekend.

“I will be hoping to be quick straight out of the blocks on Friday using every session to improve my setup and hopefully qualify my Parolin in pole position. I am, however, expecting some stiff competition from the likes of Matthew (Shuttleworth), Luhan (De Wet) and Luke (Du Toit), not forgetting about some of our Cape rivals. But all I can control is how I perform; the rest is not up to me. But it should be an exciting day of racing,” said Adriaan.

The 1000-metre Zwartkops circuit is Adriaan’s home circuit and boasts a one-of-a-kind flyover, where the circuit crosses over itself. The track’s sloping terrain offers excellent spectator viewing points and promises drivers an exhilarating and challenging ride.

While the circuit will be open for unofficial practice on Wednesday and Thursday, official practice commences on Friday, with qualifying later in the afternoon. On Saturday, three race heats will determine the overall winner. Entry to the circuit is free, and spectators are encouraged to attend.
