Josh Moore heads to the iconic Zwartkops Raceway this weekend for Round 3 of the Astron Energy Polo Cup, eager to build momentum as the national championship enters a crucial phase of the season.
While no stranger to the tight and technical Pretoria circuit, Josh knows that mastering the demanding nature of the Astron Energy Polo Cup machine is an entirely different challenge altogether. Having previously raced at Zwartkops in the 2025 Rookie Cup as well as the regional Volkswagen Challenge, the former kart racer arrives with valuable circuit knowledge, but also understands that the highly competitive Polo Cup field leaves little room for error, where mere tenths of a second can separate the top fifteen drivers.
Competing under the Worx Motorsport SA banner, Josh has already shown flashes of strong pace during his rookie campaign. After making an impressive championship debut at Killarney with a top-eight finish in his opening race, the talented youngster has endured a frustrating run of misfortune during the opening two rounds. Mid-pack incidents and close-quarters racing have repeatedly left him on the receiving end of contact, costing him valuable championship momentum despite encouraging speed.
Balancing his racing ambitions with a strong passion for watersports, Josh continues to adapt quickly to the demands of national circuit racing after progressing from karting into circuit racing, with the Zwartkops weekend presenting another important opportunity to convert pace into results.
“Zwartkops is a circuit I really enjoy and one I know, but the Polo Cup car is very different to anything I’ve raced there before,” said Josh. “The championship is incredibly competitive and the margins are tiny, so it’s all about putting together a clean weekend and staying out of trouble. We’ve had some bad luck in the opening rounds, but the pace has been there, so hopefully we can turn that around this weekend and come away with strong results.”
Friday’s programme will consist of a full day of practice sessions before the field heads into a late-afternoon qualifying session that will determine the grid for Saturday’s opening race. Adding even more excitement and importance to the weekend, competitors will tackle three races across the event as the battle in the Astron Energy Polo Cup championship continues to intensify.
