It is with great sadness that Motorsport South Africa has learnt of the passing of Archie Ntoyi, a valued colleague and friend whose dedication to South African motorsport spanned over four decades.

Archie began his motorsport career with the Sports Car Club in 1970, where he served until 1983. He returned to the sport in 1985 with AA Motorsport and, following the establishment of Motorsport South Africa in 1995, continued his dedicated service to the organisation until his retirement in 2015.

For generations of competitors, officials and members, Archie was one of the first voices they heard when contacting Motorsport South Africa. His familiar response, “I’m still trying,” became a phrase that many will remember with great fondness and a smile.

Throughout his career, Archie was respected for his loyalty, dedication and willingness to assist others. His contribution to Motorsport South Africa and the wider motorsport community was significant and will always be remembered.

Motorsport South Africa extends its sincere condolences to his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

Rest in peace, Archie. Thank you for your many years of loyal and dedicated service to Motorsport South Africa.
