Another excellent outing for the TreasuryONE Hilux

Hennie de Klerk continued his preparations for Dakar 2024 with another power weekend at the Westfert Barberspan 500 double header in the Northwest. Driving with navigator Juan Mohr for the first time, de Klerk powered the new TreasuryONE WCT Hilux T1+ to victory on Friday, before ending third on Saturday.

“Another brilliant weekend with our TreasuryONE Hilux,” a delighted Hennie confirmed. “It took some getting used to with Juan in the hot seat, I’m used to Afrikaans instructions and more hand signals, but we settled down and got into a rhythm and the first heat came to us. It was great to do the double and Juan and I worked better together as the day wore on.

“Even more slippery, Saturday may not have been the result we wanted, but we still have so many positives to take away. We brought Juan aboard because of his dual strengths of an excellent navigator and his mechanical ability in the race. That came to the fore when we lost so little time to fix a wiper issue, but our Saturday pace was amazing!

“I am delighted to have won the first two races in a row with our TreasuryONE Hilux T1+. It’s a tribute to Stuart and the WCT Engineering team for developing an incredible package quite literally out the box, and to Tjaart who built the car and runs our little team. Also well done to Juan for adapting so quickly to my navigation needs and for his technical abilities in the field.

“We would like to thank every member of the TreasuryONE team for all the effort, as well as our fans for all the support. “That makes such a difference to us on our Road to Dakar, but with pace like this, it makes all this even more gratifying. See you all out here again next month at the Vryburg 300 on 10 June!”

TreasuryONE Racing will continue to race the new FIA T1+ Toyota Hilux through the local season in preparation for 2018 rookie winner de Klerk’s third Dakar Rally in 2024. The new WCT Engineering machine is designed to deliver serious amateur drivers with a vehicle capable of taking on the best, while still racing on a reasonable budget.
