The 2025 SA National Rally Champions, Benjamin Habig and navigator Barry White, stamped their authority on the 2026 National Championship title race this weekend. Following their victory in the All-tar season opener in March, the pair won Round 2 on Friday 24 April in the King Price Swartland Rally run around the Riebeeck Kasteel area. Saturday morning crews set off for the 3rd round, staying in the Western Cape, but stages ran through the Malmsbury area, finishing at Swartland High School – Habig and White once again clinched the top step of the podium giving them three wins from three starts this season, consolidating their lead in the 2026 National Championship.
“The stages today were very fast and more technical, we were second on the road, and fortunately there was no dust, but it certainly helps when the road has been swept,” said Benjamin. “It was great to have the invitational teams here, and the R5 WR with Wilro behind the wheel, was super quick and certainly kept us on our best behavior. Congratulations to Nico Nienaber who finished second today, with Chris Coertse in third.”
“The car ran faultlessly this weekend, and as we continue the development, we manage to gain some pace. The car was super reliable, thanks to my dad, the Engineer and Team Manager, Barry was on song with the notes, the technicians were absolute stars, so a great team effort this weekend. Three cheers to the supporters who came out in force, it makes a huge difference to have spectators along the stages.
Lastly to the sponsors, organisers, officials and marshals, our sincere appreciation – without you we would not be able to rally,” concluded Ben.
