Runaway championship leader Dawie van der Merwe will return to the Killarney International Raceway this weekend, endeavouring to maintain his perfect record this season. Van der Merwe has gone unbeaten in the Gazoo Racing (GR) 86 Cup and has subsequently scored enough points to be named champion despite two rounds remaining.
Heading into the penultimate round, Van Der Merwe will make his second visit to the Cape circuit in 2024 after the venue hosted the opening round in March. With ten wins already under his belt, the young Mbombela businessman will be set on winning more races on his way to becoming an official Toyota Gazoo Racing driver in the 2025 South African Touring Cars SupaCup Championship.
Saturday’s race programme will commence at 10:20. Spectator tickets can be purchased beforehand via Webtickets (https://tinyurl.com/mtaua8es) or at the Killarney International Raceway entrance on Saturday. The full race day programme will also be broadcast live on the Extreme Festival website (https://extremefestival.co.za/live/).
Round 7 of the National Extreme Festival is proudly hosted by the Western Province Motor Club (https://wpmc.co.za/), in association with Smile 90.4 FM (https://smilefm.co.za/).
