While this coming weekend (12-13 June) will see the BMW ///M Performance Parts Race Series NA Cup finish off the first half of the season, it is still extremely close at the top of the points table ahead of the Zwartkops Raceway outing.
Ignus du Plessis’ Round 3 breakout into Class B has opened the battle for the inaugural NA Cup title completely, with four drivers from all three the current contested classes separated by only seven points heading into the weekend. The top three are separated by a mere two points.
On top of things at present is Class B’s Andre van Vuuren. Apart from a DNF in this year’s second start, he has been well in command of the pack, with a win in each of the other five races, and only missing out on two of the bonus points for pole positions and fastest laps. However, that superb record thus far only sees him a single point ahead of Du Plessis, who has yet to step onto the Class B podium. Trailing the latter by 15 points, are Olerato Sekudu and Richard Gerntholtz, both who had good starts to their season, with Sekudu having the other Class B win to his name. Bernard de Goueveia trails them by 13 points. Two runner-up finishes in the season opener saw him hold the early class lead, but it has been a lean spell since then. Troy Cochran and Trevor Long are the other two drivers who’ll be in action, both having accumulated points on a regular basis.
Du Plessis’ break out has seen Nicholas Herbst take the top spot in Class C. He, too, is one of the drivers in contention for the NA Cup lead, albeit seven points behind Van Vuuren. In Class C, he finds himself 17 points clear of Ruan van der Walt, the 2026 debutant who recently broke out of Class D. Kent Swartz is third, two points behind Van der Walt, and will look to channel the good form he showed at Zwartkops Raceway earlier this season. Tihan van Rooyen trails him by two points, and although his podium pickings were slim thus far, he comes in on the back of his season-best second place in the last outing. Fifth is Claudio Jardim, six points adrift, but also on the back of a solid performance. Other returning-regulars are Cobus Bohmer, Mitch Coetzee, and Shane Grobler. Also back on the grid will be Karabo Malemela, who missed the Red Star Raceway outing.
Class D leader Reinhardt Miller trails NA Cup leader Van Vuuren by two points and holds a 15-points lead over class rival Henry Platt. Zaheer Seedat, who took this first 2026 win in the last meeting, is a further 13 points adrift, but six ahead of Chloe Stuart. Justin Brown is one point behind her. The will be joined by Arri van Heerden, Craig Platt, Dirk van Loggerenberg, Ferdi van Staden, Henry Harber, Morgan Jacobs, Philip Mostert JNR, Philip Mostert SNR, and Zeyad Ismail.
Saturday’s races will start at 13:30 and 16:30 and will be contested over 10 and 12 laps respectively. Spectator tickets will be available at the Zwartkops Raceway entrance gate. The full Extreme Festival race day will be broadcast live via the Extreme Festival website from 11:00.
