Zwartkops Raceway hosts the penultimate round of the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars this weekend, which could see Julian Fameliaris crowned the 2023 champion. Famaliaris, who has been the inform driver this season, takes a significant lead (63 points) into Round 6. With a three-race format this weekend, the Johannesburg driver has a chance at clinching his maiden Mobil 1 V8 Supercars Championship.

His focus, however, is solely set on another solid performance, where he hopes to take several victories in his Lube-Net-sponsored Chevrolet Corvette.

“It’s been a phenomenal season so far,” stated Fameliaris. “The car has been quick and the team have been superb. While we might have a healthy lead heading into the weekend, we are under no illusion that the championship is sewn up. Our focus is on the weekend’s three races and putting on a good performance. The tight nature of the Zwartkops circuit also allows for some close racing so I’m pretty excited to get out there on Friday and hopefully we can put on a good show for the fans.”

Saturday will see three races, scheduled for 10:35, 13:55 and 17:05, each contested over a 10-lap distance. Spectator tickets can be purchased directly from Zwartkops Raceway, and the full Extreme Festival race programme will be broadcast live on the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars Facebook page and 2WheelsTV YouTube channel.
