Round 3 of the Investchem Formula 1600 Championship is set for another exciting race weekend. KC Ensor-Smith, a multiple-karting champion competing in his second season of South Africa’s premier single-seater championship, heads to Zwartkops Raceway. The championship joins several other categories as part of the third round of the National Extreme Festival.

In his first full season of the championship in 2023, KC used the opportunity to familiarise himself with the car and gain valuable knowledge and experience while going on to record a few solid results. This has stood him in good stead for the 2024 season that sees the former Toyota Gazoo Racing Junior Academy driver record three podiums and head to Zwartkops four points adrift of the championship leader.

“It’s an important weekend for my championship I believe. Zwartkops is a circuit I’ve come to love but it isn’t the easiest place to overtake. So, getting the setup just right is vital for a strong qualifying performance which is often crucial around some of the shorter circuits like Zwartkops. But I have a great team behind me and I’m sure we can perform well this weekend,” said KC.

Three practice sessions await KC on Friday with qualifying and two 10-lap races scheduled for Saturday.

Don’t miss out on a day of high-octane racing! The action-packed 15-race programme starts at 10:05 on Saturday. Spectator tickets are easily available at the Zwartkops Raceway entrance or can be conveniently purchased by emailing info@zwartkops.co.za. Can’t make it to the race? No problem; you can catch the entire race day live on https://extremefestival.co.za/live/.
