It was a triumphant return to regional karting this weekend for Kayde Cornofsky as the young driver of Polish descent accomplished a clean sweep at Formula-K Kart Circuit with pole and three heat victories. In what would arguably be Cornofsky’s best performance in the Kid ROK class, the Johannesburg driver displayed a dominant performance at Round 2 of MSA’s Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship.

Cornofsky claimed the pole position on Saturday morning with his second quickest lap of the session after his first was disallowed due to a Nose Cone Infringement Penalty (NCIP). Despite this he was still seven tenths quicker than the next driver.

The opening heat would see the Allegiance Properties / Canario Cornofsky Attorneys backed driver go unchallenged as he capered to a five second margin victory over the field. He would repeat this performance in Heats 2 and 3 again taking the victories without difficulty to claim the winner’s trophy for the day. It was also the first time he has won all three heats, adding to the two victories from the opening round.

“Just so chuffed to have won. The team were fantastic this weekend and I have to say a huge thank you to the Xtreme Racing Team. From qualifying through to the last lap of the last heat the kart was on rails. It never skipped a beat and it feels great standing on the top of the podium. Not sure what the points look like but I think I might have taken the lead of the championship too. Than you to my sponsors and family and friends for the support once again,” stated a jubilant Cornofsky.
