It was a weekend of determination, recovery, and reward for Jarrod Waberski and Mark Havers, as the #58 Topcats Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo Evo2 claimed a GTC class victory and two podium finishes during the GT Cup Championship round at Silverstone from 2–3 August.
Race 1 – Saturday Sprint
Starting 3rd on the grid, Mark Havers got off to a strong start, holding position into Turn 1. However, contact later in the opening lap caused damage to the Lamborghini, sending Havers into a spin and dropping him to the back of the field. After briefly pitting for assessment, he rejoined the race and battled to the finish, ultimately coming home a lap down. It was a frustrating start, but there was more to come.
Race 2 – Saturday Sprint
Jarrod Waberski took the wheel for the second sprint and delivered a sensational drive. Starting from P13, he launched up to 7th on the opening lap and began picking off cars with clinical precision. By the chequered flag, Waberski had climbed to 3rd overall and secured 1st in the GTC class, marking the team’s first win of the weekend in dominant style.
Race 3 – Silverstone 100 Endurance
In Sunday’s 100-minute endurance race, Havers started from 12th on the grid and drove a clean and consistent first stint, holding 15th as the pit window opened. He handed over to Waberski, who rejoined in 11th just as the weather began to shift. With rain falling and track conditions changing, Waberski made the call to stay out on slicks. The gamble paid off, and he came home in 7th overall and 3rd in the GTC class, rounding out a successful weekend with a second podium.
Jarrod Waberski commented:
“Really happy with the progress we made this weekend. Race 2 was a blast, and I’m proud of how we fought back in the endurance race too, especially managing the slicks in tricky conditions. Huge thanks to Mark and everyone at Topcats Racing and T4 Motorsport for their continued support and a great car all weekend long!”
The team now looks ahead with confidence as the GT Cup Championship heads to Donington Park at the end of September.
