Julian, KC ahead as Andrew, Keegan, Rob close in
Chemical Logistics Racing heads into the second half of the 2026 South African Touring Cars with two of its cars leading the way and the other three chasing hard as the National Extreme Festival returns to Aldo Scribante in Gqeberha on Saturday 15 August. Volkswagen Golf GTI duo, Julian van der Watt and KC Ensor-Smith lead the way with Andrew Schofield’s BMW 128ti a fighting fifth as Keegan Campos’ BMW Robert Wolk’s Golf GTI fight back after a late start.
“Chemical Logistics Racing continues to lead the way in South African Touring Cars, but there’s a change of plan for the fifth round,” team patron Ian Schofield explains. “We were supposed to race in East London this weekend, but the meeting has now been moved back to Aldo Scribante. Looking at the weekend ahead, Julian has enjoyed a great season so far but he’ll want a better outcome second time around at Aldo. KC is driving brilliantly and Andrew recently won his first race. But the men to beat seem to be Keegan and Robert who started late, so it’s a most interesting weekend ahead.”
With race wins in each of the first three rounds 2026, Julian van der Watt will be keen to add another win as he carries a comfortable championship lead into his second Aldo Scribante visit. “Last race was the lowest point of the season but it made little difference to the championship,” the Investchem WCT Volkswagen Golf GTI veteran Julian explains. “It’s great to be leading the way, but we need to consolidate my advantage. And I look forward to another great weekend with the team lads.”
Rookie sensation KC Ensor-Smith similarly treaded water at Aldo Scribante last round as he keeps van der Watt honest up front in his African Heating Investchem WCT Golf GTI. “I’ve enjoyed a great first season of South African Touring Cars so far, scored consistently and even won a race to sit second in the chase,” Ensor-Smith admits. “Now we must just keep the momentum going through the second half. Bring it on!”
Andrew Schofield took a maiden win in his FlySafair Chemical Logistics FAST BMW 128ti at Zwartkops. “That first race was so good,” Andy smiled. “I want more success!” Veloce Chemical Logistics FAST BMW teammate Keegan Campos and former triple champion Robert Wolk’s Chemical Logistics WCT Golf GTI are however the cars to beat. “We had the pace last time, but lady luck looked the other way,” Campos chirped. Wolk warns, “It took a bit of time to find my feet, but we won last time, so here’s to more of that!”
