Unstoppable Visser delivers a Gqeberha Grand Slam
It was a case of veni, vidi, vici, as Charl Michael Visser and his Universal Racing Team Red Volkswagen quite literally came, saw, and conquered Aldo Scribante’s CompCare Polo Cup races over the weekend. Visser delivered a perfect grand slam as he qualified on pole position, led every lap and won both Saturday’s sprint and mini endurance races with the fastest lap in each too.
“Wow, what a wonderful weekend!” Charl admitted. “We worked hard for this race, I came to PE to race a regional a few weeks ago to be ready for the weekend, my team gave me a perfect car and the day worked out perfectly. Pole position, two race wins and two fastest laps, what more can I say! “We also consolidated our championship lead as my main rivals had less than ideal weekends, so now the plan is to carry this momentum forward.
“It’s not going to be easy, and we cannot rest on our laurels. We have some really canny opposition out there and some of the younger guys are finding good pace now, so it is important that we keep on our toes as there’s still half the season left to race. Once again, special thanks to my incredible team, and to my parents for all the unwavering support. We are off to East London in a month and I really cannot wait to keep on fighting!”
