Sixteen-year-old South African Aqil Alibhai will race the 2023 British F4 championship for Virtuosi Racing. 2019 Rotax African Open Karting Champion Alibhai steps up to single seaters following two competitive seasons in the British Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship, where he finished sixth in 2022.

“I am proud to announce my 2023 ROKiT British F4 certified by FIA programme with Virtuosi Racing,” Aqil confirmed. “Testing with the team has been seamless and I felt comfortable right away. “I cannot wait to fly the South African flag in this prestigious championship.”

“We are delighted to welcome Aqil Alibhai into the Virtuosi team for the 2023 British F4 Championship,” Virtuosi F4 team boss Mark Salmon added. “We aim to provide Aqil with the support and experience to see him continue that positive trajectory into single seaters.”

Aqil joins Virtuosi Racing’s three car F4 line-up alongside Kai Daryanani and Douwe Dedecker. The three drivers have already tested as the team continues its preparations for the ten-round British F4 Championship’s season opener at Donington Park April 22-23.

“I can’t wait, Aqil concluded “Bring it on!”
