Hennie and his Hilux second at Coetzerdam

Hennie de Klerk kept his new TreasuryONE WCT Engineering FIA T1+ Hilux on the podium in every race it has ever started with second in the Coetzerdam 300 in the Northwest Province on Saturday. De Klerk, who continued his preparations for Dakar 2024 alongside navigator Juan Mohr, was delighted with the result.

“Second, and so close behind the full factory Gazoo Racing Hilux is huge news for our new TreasuryONE T1+ Hilux,” a delighted Hennie confirmed. “Our car is quite different to the Hallspeed car in that it is designed with a privateer budget in mind, to make the car competitive for a lot less money laid out than what is necessary to keep the factory competitive in their fight with Audi and Prodrive at the Dakar.

“So to be able to keep the factory cars honest in a desert race is a great achievement. That said, we must also commend our young rival Saood Variawa on a great victory. At just seventeen, he has a wise old head on those young shoulders.

“Looking at our own race, it went very well. Juan and I are working well together, the car is fantastic and the team is gelling nicely. Congratulations to the organisers on another great Coetzerdam. It was a good opportunity for us to learn even more about our TreasuryONE WCT Hilux T1+ flat out in its natural environment as we gather data and build up to Dakar 2024. Well done team!”

TreasuryONE Racing is racing its new FIA T1+ Toyota Hilux in the Northern Off Road Championship, in preparation for 2018 rookie winner de Klerk’s third Dakar Rally in 2024. The new WCT Engineering machine is designed to deliver serious amateur drivers with a vehicle capable of taking on the best, while still racing on a reasonable budget.
