Andrew Rackstraw is the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion after a cool, calm and calculated title-winning performance in his Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport 911 GT3 at the season finale at Brands Hatch.

A fourth and third place Pro category points finish in two nail-biting races around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit not only gave the BRDC Rising Star driver the title but secured Century Motorsport the teams’ title.

With Andrew scoring points in all 16 Porsche Carrera Cup GB races this year, the 23-year old South African driver’s final title-winning points tally included dropped scores.

The first named storm of the British winter narrowly avoided the southeast corner of England on Saturday (4 October), although it did produce a wet free practice session before a cold, windy, yet dry, 30 minutes of qualifying. In a very close session, Andrew put his Rosland Gold/Investchem/Sparco-backed 911 GT3 fifth on the grid with a 1:26.384 best around the 2.43-mile Kent track, with an average speed of 101.4mph.

Come a slightly sunnier race day (Sunday 5 October), Andrew made a fantastic start from the inside of Row 3 in Round 15 and was up to fourth by the first corner and challenging for third. Much of lap one was spent side-by-side with championship rival Will Martin, as Andrew momentarily moved up to third, before spending the rest of a thrilling race within touching distance of the car ahead and challenging for a podium finish all the way to the chequered flag.

With only needing to finish close to and not necessarily ahead of his title rival in both races, fourth Pro category points in the penultimate race saw Andrew take a seven-point Porsche Carrera Cup GB lead into the final round, where he started the final reverse grid race of the season from third position.

A magnificent start from the inside of Row 2 saw Andrew immediately move up to second before settling back in third – a position that would be more than enough for the title. In a tense cat and mouse 17 lap encounter, Andrew took the final chequered flag of the season in fourth place overall, but with Pro Am driver Max Coates winning, Andrew secured third-place Pro category points to secure the Porsche Carrera Cup GB title by two points.

Crowned Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion in only his second season competing outside South Africa is a truly incredible achievement and signals a bright international racing future for the talented Cape Town driver.

“After such a hard-fought season, I honestly can’t believe that I’ve won the Porsche Carrera Cup GB title. It’s going to take a long time for it to sink in,” says Andrew.

“The season finale at Brands Hatch wasn’t the prettiest race weekend in terms of results, but some of my biggest strengthens as a driver are thinking with my head and not losing my cool when the pressure is on, and I knew that it was what I needed to do to secure the title.

“I’m so pleased to be able to repay Century Motorsport, who gave me a great car all season and the opportunity to fight for the title, with not just the drivers’ championship but also the teams’ trophy.

“And this title is also for my sponsors who have supported and helped me in all my years of racing, starting back at home in South Africa and now on the international stage. It’s a testament to them and their belief in me.

“Winning the Porsche Carrera Cup GB is a year that I shall remember for the rest of my life.

“I’m already working on my motor racing plans for 2026, but for today, tomorrow and maybe a bit longer I’m going to enjoy this very special moment.”
