Having already earned an WPMC Honours Badge in 1969 for services to motorsport (in particular rallying) Allen would add five Western Province Rally Navigators titles in succession (1978-1982) and tasted International competition as navigator for Leif Asterhag in selected SA rallies.
Dawie du Toit and Allen Castley started off in the ex-Pat Moss (sister of Sir Stirling Moss) Renault 12 Gordini and progressed to a rapid Renault R5R. Piet Loubser and Allen Castley also shared an extremely neat Ford Escort MkI whilst the occasional showing with Vic Proctor Jnr (Volvo Amazon) or Bill Bright (Toyota Hilux) simply proof of his commitment to the sport of rallying.
In 1978 Pieter de Waal and Allen Castley won the Western Province Rally Championship in the Schus Datsun 160U SSS resulting in Western Province colours for motorsport. Four more WP Championships would follow 1979-1982. Ford, Renault, Alfa Romeo, Datsun and Toyota made Allen a true allrounder and one of the true legends of the Western Province Rally Championship.
Allen and Sherrill eventually settled in Montaqu where they owned the Montaque Manor Guesthouse.
Sadly Sherrill passed away in 2023 and now Allen on Tuesday 28 July 2026.
