Motorsport South Africa (MSA) today announces that the long-serving President of the National Court of Appeal, Andre Bezuidenhout, will be stepping down from his role. This comes after more than three decades of outstanding service to the sport as he takes on his position on the world motorsport stage.
A cornerstone of the MSA’s judicial system since 1994, Bezuidenhout has been instrumental in creating and growing an independent judicial body for motorsport in South Africa, which is founded on the principles of fairness, discipline, and principled adjudication. His leadership has been crucial in protecting the integrity of competition in our country.
His departure is due to his re-appointment to the International Court of Appeal of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) for a second four-year term. This esteemed international role requires him to step down from his national duties, including the Presidency of the MSA National Court of Appeal, in line with FIA regulations.

For 32 years, he has been the bedrock of our judicial system, building it from the ground up into a respected and independent institution. His leadership was defined by a deep commitment to fairness, integrity, and the regulations that govern our sport. He was a passionate advocate for the officials and volunteers who are the foundation of motorsport, and while the FIA’s gain is our loss, we are incredibly proud to have him represent Africa on the international stage. His legacy of principled adjudication will endure within MSA for decades to come.”
