Andrew takes Ray & Down Cups at Brands Hatch
Cape Town race driver Andrew Rackstraw enjoyed a perfect weekend as he drove to double victories to capture two significant British motorsport trophies on Saturday. Rackstraw lifted both the Bert Ray Memorial and Martin Down Trophies by winning both races at the Brands Hatch United Formula Ford championship round.
“I feel hugely privileged to win both races today and to claim these special Bert Ray Memorial and Martin Down trophies in honour of two British motorsport legends,” Andrew beamed after the race. “Qualifying wasn’t so great after I missed a tow, so I qualified fourth. But I was back in front and took the first race win for the Bert Ray Trophy. I then pulled a lights to flag to lift the Martin Down Trophy in race 2.
“Huge thanks to KMR Sport for a fantastic car this weekend and to all my sponsors who are making this all possible. Also to fans supporting me from all over the world and at home in South Africa, this win goes out to each of you. My next Formula Ford outing is the Walter Hayes Trophy. I can’t wait!”
Andrew is racing the United Formula Ford championship in preparation for this year’s international Walter Hayes Trophy Formula Ford weekend later in the year, alongside his race winning Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain campaign, which continues at Silverstone this coming 21-22 September weekend.
