Volkswagen back for an Aldo Scribante bonus
Volkswagen Motorsport rookie Christopher Tait heads back to Aldo Scribante off his best 30th Anniversary Astron Energy Polo Cup result yet. The team’s SATC SupaCup driver Rory Atkinson will meantime be out to arrest his championship rival’s advantage when the National Extreme Festival returns to Gqeberha for its fifth round on Saturday 15 August.
“We’re having our fair share of racing at Aldo Scribante this season” Mike Rowe, Volkswagen Head of Motorsport explains. “The fifth round East London Extreme Festival was recently moved to our Gqeberha home track, so our Volkswagen Rookie Cup champion Christopher Tait should be happy with that news following his incredible come from behind run to his best result yet in the 30th Anniversary Astron Energy Polo Cup last time. And Rory Atkinson is set to fight back in the SATC SupaCup after a tough couple of weekends in our SupaPolo.”
Christopher Tait could not have had a worse start when his first Superpole appearance was curtailed by a technical penalty at Scribante last time out. But he struck back to eventually come home second in his best result yet. “Secretly, I’m delighted to be going back to Aldo,” Christopher admits. “We had brilliant pace there last time out but luck never quite went our way, so let’s see where we will end up if we can have a clean weekend. I really hope to reward my team with the best possible result!”
“We had a positive start in SATC SupaCup, but also we had a couple of tough breaks in the past two races,” Volkswagen SupaPolo rookie Rory Atkinson owns up. “Still, we’re sitting second in the championship chase, so I can’t really complain, but we now need to make up for lost ground, and we’re not taking any prisoners this weekend. I’m determined to reward my team by getting back to winning ways in front of our loyal Aldo Scribante fans this weekend.”
