Aldo a big home weekend for the Rookie Cup
There’s quite literally nowhere to hide as the 2026 Volkswagen Rookie Cup heads home to Gqeberha when the National Extreme Festival racing roadshow visits the Aldo Scribante racetrack for its fourth round on Saturday 27 June.
“We have a very interesting scenario playing out in the Volkswagen Rookie Cup this year,” Volkswagen Head of Motorsport Mike Rowe points out. “Championship leader Luke Hill won the first three races on the trot, but it’s been all about Sebastian Dias and Jack Moore since, while Sebastian Venkov, Keyaan Dwomoh and Max Corbett are all very much in the picture and the lads are set to give Volkswagen’s home fans much to cheer about this weekend.”
Rookie Cup sophomore Luke Hill hit the ground running, winning the first three races on the trot in his PMD Transport Volkswagen Polo Vivo GT. PMD Transport Versaflex lad Sebastian Dias however defeated Hill in the second heat at the previous Scribante round, and won another race at Zwartkops to more than halve Hill’s title advantage.
Jack Moore meantime bounced back from rolling his Puma Fleet Dynamics Vivo at Aldo last time to win the second Pretoria race to move a couple of points clear of Sebastian Venkov’s 23 Degrees Vivo to now sit third in the chase. Neither has much wriggle room either, with consistent Adhive rookie Keyaan Dwomoh and Century Racing lad Max Corbett breathing down their necks.
“The 2026’s Volkswagen Rookie Cup is building up into an epic chase and we are confident that the lads will once again thrill our Aldo Scribante fans every inch of the way,” Mike Rowe concludes. “All the best to all our Volkswagen Rookies once again this weekend.”
A Volkswagen Motorsport initiative open to drivers between 14 and 16 years old holding a valid MSA licence, the Rookie Cup Academy transitions drivers from karting or similar to the main circuit.
