A team championship 1-2 as Touring Cars head to Scribante
Chemical Logistics Racing is in complete control of South African Touring Cars 2026 as the National Extreme Festival heads to its midseason fourth round at the Aldo Scribante racetrack in Gqeberha on Saturday 27 June. Volkswagen Golf GTI duo, Julian van der Watt and KC Ensor-Smith lead the way with Andrew Schofield’s BMW 128ti a fighting fifth as Keegan Campos’ BMW Robert Wolk’s Golf GTI fight back after a late start.
“Three races in and we’re in complete control,” Chemical Logistics Racing patron Ian Schofield explains. “Julian is enjoying his best season yet, KC is showing maturity beyond his years and Andrew flies to Gqeberha off a maiden win. Keegan and Robert started late, so their progress will be watched with great interest too. Go get it guys!”
With three race wins from the six races so far in 2026, Julian van der Watt’s We Buy Cars Investchem WCT Volkswagen Golf GTI carries a comfortable championship lead to Aldo Scribante. “All the hard work is paying off,” veteran Julian points out. “It’s great to be leading the way, especially by such a healthy margin so early in the season. So the point is now to simply consolidate my advantage. I have the team to make it happen, let’s do this lads!”
The sensation of the season so far, rookie KC Ensor-Smith won on debut and has been there or thereabouts ever since, to keep Julian honest in his African Heating Investchem WCT Volkswagen Golf GTI. “I must pinch myself whenever I think about how my first season of South African Touring Cars has gone so far,” Ensor-Smith admits. “The plan is to keep up the momentum, Julian honest and the rest behind. Can’t wait!”
Next up, the two Chemical Logistics FAST BMW 128tis. Fresh off his maiden win, Andrew Schofield has improved steadily and impressively through the season in his FlySafair version. “I’m fifth in the chase, but the exciting bit is that I am just one point away from third and I’d really enjoy to come home from Scribante in a team 1-2-3,” Andy smiles. “And now I have learned how to win, so here’s to much more of that!”
Chemical Logistics FAST BMW 128ti teammate Keegan Campos missed the first round in his Veloce Campos version, but he’s already won a race and is hungry for more. Even hungrier, former triple champion Robert Wolk is chasing his comeback victory in the Chemical Logistics WCT Volkswagen Golf GTI as he too continues to play catch-up after missing the opening round.
