Motorsport South Africa (MSA) will host a dedicated Motocross Marshal Training Programme on 13 June 2026 at Legends MX Track as part of preparations for the upcoming MXGP of South Africa.

Supported by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the training forms part of MSA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening motorsport safety standards and ensuring that officials and marshals are equipped with the knowledge and practical experience required to support events at both national and international level.

The comprehensive one day programme will combine classroom based theory with practical trackside training, providing participants with a solid understanding of the roles and responsibilities of motocross marshals.

Key modules will include:

  • Flag signalling procedures and trackside communication
  • Incident management and rider safety protocols
  • Emergency response and fire awareness
  • Radio communication and race control procedures
  • Marshal positioning and track safety management
  • Practical trackside exercises and simulated incident scenarios

“Marshals and officials play a vital role in the successful delivery of every motorsport event. Their commitment, professionalism and dedication are fundamental to ensuring a safe and well managed environment for competitors, teams and spectators,” said MSA CEO, Vic Maharaj.

“With South Africa preparing to host MXGP, it is essential that we continue investing in the development of our officials and marshals. This programme provides both new and experienced volunteers with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and practical experience while contributing to the successful delivery of world class motorsport events.”

The initiative forms part of MSA’s broader strategy to develop and support officials across all disciplines of the sport. Participants who successfully complete the programme will contribute to a growing national network of trained marshals capable of supporting events throughout South Africa.

The training is open to both aspiring new marshals and experienced officials who wish to formalise and expand their knowledge of motocross officiating.

Anyone interested in becoming a marshal or attending the training programme is encouraged to contact Motorsport South Africa by emailing info@motorsport.co.za for further information and booking details.
