Moore, Nathan & Pillay aim to stay ahead in ATE VW Challenge

It’s been a long wait, but the ATE VW Challenge finally returns to action at the Red Star Raceway near Delmas for its second round on. Saturday 16 May. And if Zwartkops’ opening round back in March was anything to go by, it’s the young men who are the ones to beat as Josh Moore, Keegan Nathan and Bryce Nathan arrive at the Gauteng Regional Extreme Festival in the lead of their respective class championships.

Class A rookie Moore delivered a decisive debut Class A pole position before clearing off to double race wins last time out in his Worx BPW Puma Polo. He has another young gun Chris Tait’s similar King Price Extreme machine, former motorcycle racer Anthony Lessing’s Raless car and experienced men, Francis Aldrich, lan Walker’s Mellow Velo, Dewald Theron’s Mweza Trans and refugee Class B champion Stuart Mack’s AutoZone Polo 6Rs on his case.

Another debut winner last time out, the vastly experienced Graeme’s son Keegan Nathan put his Nathans Polo is in charge of Class B pole. He has fellow rookies Keyaan Dwomoh, Sebastian Bouilliart’s Applied Heat car, Century lad Max Corbett, Northern Bolt & Tool sophomore Jonathan Konig, and veteran Chris Davison’s GSI entry chasing him in the middling class chase.

It’s closer in Class C where Northern Bolt lad Stuart Konig took a maiden win in the opening race and ’25 runner up Bryce Pillay’s Sustech Vivo shared the wins with Dimitri Zapheriou, Kyle Petersen, and Philip Croeser’s ATE Vivo in close attendance. Tight and twisty with long straights in between, Red Star should shake things up a little.

The Delmas circuit is conveniently close to Gauteng just off exit 485 on the N12 freeway. Sounds like a splendid way to spend a Saturday!
