Motorsport South Africa (MSA) successfully hosted its first Media Photography & Safety Training Workshop of 2026 this past weekend at Zwartkops Raceway, held in conjunction with the Historic Inland Championship. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Zwartkops Raceway for hosting us and supporting this important initiative.
The two-day workshop provided participants with a comprehensive programme that combined classroom-based theoretical learning with practical, real-time trackside experience during race day. Attendees were introduced to key safety protocols, media conduct, and the fundamentals of capturing high-quality motorsport imagery within a live racing environment.
The session was led by Dave Ledbitter and Lawrence Paiken, both members of the MSA Media Committee, who guided participants through the demands and responsibilities of working as accredited motorsport media. Their hands-on approach ensured an engaging and informative experience for both aspiring and developing photographers.
This initiative forms part of MSA’s ongoing commitment to improving safety standards and professional development within motorsport media in South Africa.
MSA extends its congratulations to all participants who successfully completed the workshop and contributed to the continued growth of safe and professional media practices in the sport.
