Volkswagen Motorsport ready for a little fun to close the season
Volkswagen Motorsport is gearing up to have a little fun as it closes an action-packed 2025 racing season at Zwartkops Raceway’s thrilling second annual Top of the Hill Challenge in Pretoria on 21 and 22 November. With Jonathan Mogotsi chasing class glory in his powerful Volkswagen Motorsport SupaPolo and Volkswagen’s 2025 Cup Rookies teaming up with leading motoring scribes in a Media Challenge, it promises to be a competitive but enjoyable weekend.
“With the Zwartkops Top of the Hill Challenge moved to the end of the season, the pressure is off and this weekend promises to be a truly fun way to close off another great year of racing,” Volkswagen Head of Motorsport Mike Rowe, explains. The Top of the Hill is a 2000 metre hill climb starting at turn 4 and running in the reverse direction of the Zwartkops Raceway track, all the way up to Turn 5 and the finish.”
Volkswagen Motorsport will take five race cars to the Zwartkops Top of the Hill led by factory driver Jonathan Mogotsi’s powerful Hillclimb SupaPolo. “It’s my second Zwartkops Top of the Hill outing and I look forward to once again challenging some of the far bigger and more powerful cars for a top ten finish,” factory driver Jonathan Mogotsi explains. “What a special way to close of a full and challenging racing season!”
He will be backed by four Volkswagen Rookies teamed up with four motoring journalists. Rookie champion Christopher Tait and 2025 rivals Uzair Khan, Luke Hill and Mauro da Luz sharing with sports anchor Mpho Maboi, Changecars contributor Nicky Netshifhefhe and Tik Tok content creator Chad Jones.
“Our four Rookies team up with four journalists, but each in their own Volkswagen Motorsport Polo Vivo GT,” Mike Rowe adds. “So there will be eight cars running. The four Rookies will then draw a number out of a hat after practice to team up with that journalist for the competition. Special thanks to Zwartkops for once again including this special class in the Top of Hill.”
