Win or bust weekend brings race wins but title frustration

Chemical Logistics Racing heads to the South African Touring Car season finale looking for a win at Zwartkops Raceway’s National Extreme Festival presented by Coca-Cola Pretoria on Saturday 25 October. While rookie Jagger Robertson sits second with an outside chance of an unlikely championship victory, the rest of the team can just get down and race on Saturday.

“Lady luck has not been very kind to us this year, but then the guy in front has also driven a consistent season to take advantage of our woes,” team principal Ian Schofield explains. “Our cars have won the lion’s share of the races, but we’re unlikely to take the title and that’s just racing. So all the best to the guys this final weekend and with a little luck, to a double victory!”

Rookie Robertson has fared best of the Chemical Logistics men in 2025. “It’s been a great first season of South African Touring Cars, so to be sitting second with a race win to my name is a hugely proud moment,” 2024 Investchem Formula 1600 champion Jagger admits. “This weekend is more about worrying what’s behind me, than the slim chances of a shock championship win, but it would be so cool to win again. Can’t wait!”

Keegan Campos could have been well within title contention had he raced the entire season. Having won four races through the year, he’s also the winningest driver of South African Touring Cars in 2025. “Unfortunately we only got our deal together to race from the second round and since then, I’ve scored on average 20 points per weekend. Add that to my total and we’d still be in with a championship shout. Overall I’m pretty chuffed with my season.”

Fourth in the chase, Julian van der Watt has generally had a season to forget in the second Chemical Logistics Volkswagen Golf GTI. But he’s still very much in contention for a second pace championship finish. “After all that, I’m still only eleven points off the championship second position,” Capetonian Julian summed it up. So let’s see if we can turn this around and actually make this a season to remember!”

Seventh on the log, Andrew Schofield, and his FlySafair Investchem FAST BMW 328tc head to Zwartkops to resolve a season-long title fight for fifth with Toyota Gazoo duo, Nathi Msimanga ahead of, and Sa’aad Variawa behind him. “I’ve enjoyed a bit of a tumultuous season balancing some decent points finishes with problems” Andrew explains. “Let’s hope for a clean weekend and maybe even that elusive 2025 podium!”

Chemical Logistics Racing’s South African Touring Car season concludes along with the rest of the National Extreme Festival presented by Coca-Cola classes in Pretoria on Saturday 25 October. See you at Zwartkops!
