MSA BEYOND THE TRACK – COMPETITORS UNCOVERED

South African motorsport continues to shine on the international circuit, and few names carry that pride more strongly than Steven Odendaal. At just 32 years old, the Johannesburg born rider has carved his own path in the world of two-wheel racing, competing in the World Endurance Championship across France, Belgium, and Japan, as well as the Spanish Superbike Championship in Spain and Portugal.

FROM FIRST THROTTLE TWIST TO GLOBAL RACING

Steven’s journey began in childhood when he begged his father for a chance to test a training bike at a local track day. The moment he opened the throttle, he was hooked, and a lifelong passion for racing was born. Unlike many who come from motorsport families, Steven built his own road to success, driven by determination and self-belief. He rose through the ranks of South African racing before stepping onto the international stage, proving himself against some of the world’s best.

RACING STYLE AND SPIRIT

REPRESENTING SOUTH AFRICA

ADVICE TO THE NEXT GENERATION

His message to aspiring young South African riders is simple but powerful:

“Dedication and hard work pay off. Speak to someone who has already made the path before trying to pave it by yourself.”

LIFE BEYOND RACING

When not on a bike, Steven enjoys mountain biking, off-road biking, spending time with his wife and kids, and keeping himself physically and mentally sharp for the demands of racing. His motorsport hero is none other than Valentino Rossi.
