Andrew Rackstraw has taken the lead in the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro driver’s standings after a sensational race weekend performance that included setting a new lap record around the ultra-fast Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk.
Having qualified his Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport team Porsche Carrera 911 GT3 Cup car third on the grid (just 0.112 secs off pole and at an average speed of 97.7mph), Andrew made a good start from in the inside of row two on what was the 400th Porsche Carrera Cup GB race (the series having started in Mondello Park in 2003).
Having taken second position, Andrew pushed hard for the win in his Rosland Gold/Investchem/Sparco-backed car – setting a new lap record of 1:50.748 around the 2.97 mile Snetterton 300 track as he chased down the leader. He was within two seconds of the leader as he took the chequered flag in second place – a result which gave him the Pro category lead of Britain’s fastest single-make racing series for the first time in his career.
Andrew started fifth in the reserve grid second race and from the inside of row three made another great start – moving up to fourth as he skilfully avoided a spinning car at Turn 1. He pushed hard to make up more places, coming to within 0.143 secs of a podium place on the penultimate lap. But on a track that’s notoriously difficult to overtake on, especially with everyone racing identical 911 GT3s, Andrew finished fourth overall and first Pro driver – a result which extended his Pro series lead to 10 points.
“I’m absolutely over the moon with our team performance at Snetterton,” says Andrew.
“P3 in qualifying put us in a great position to score as many points as possible, and that’s what we set out to do on race day.
“In race one we maximised the best that we could around what is a very fast and hard to overtake track. I managed to fight my way up into P2 and chase down the leader, and in doing so set a new lap record which is a true testament to our pace as a team. I was really happy with a P2 finish and a new lap record!
“For race two I started fifth in the reverse grid. It was an awesome race to be part of and managed to come out first in the Pro category and fourth overall.
“It was an incredible weekend, almost a perfect score of points. Consistency is everything in this championship and that’s exactly what we are aiming for.”
Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup GB take place at Thruxton in Hampshire on 7/8 June.
