ADLEM AUTO PUMPED FOR MOBIL 1 V8 SUPERCARS RED STAR RETURN
July 1, 2022
Red Star Raceway plays host to Round 3 of the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars this weekend as they raise the decibel levels around Delmas, Mpumalanga. Mackie Adlem (Adlem Auto Jaguar XKR) and David Coetzee (ELKSA Competition Ford Falcon) will again fly the Adlem Auto Racing flag as both drivers try and make an impression on the 2022 championship.

Adlem, a five-time and the defending champion, will be keen on regaining the championship lead, a lead he held after the opening round in January but lost to on-track rival Franco Di Matteo. With two wins already to his name, the Randfontein businessman will be keen for a visit to a circuit he knows well. This year, however, will see competitors run in the opposite direction, something they haven't done since 2017.

Coetzee, also no stranger to the Mpumalanga circuit, having competed there several times in Lotus Challenge races, has not raced his Falcon in the clockwise direction, having debuted in Mobil 1 V8 Supercars three years ago. Having missed the opening round due to personal commitments, Coetzee will only be competing for the second time this season but is keen as always to compete.

"The clockwise layout this year will be challenging for all of us this weekend," stated Adlem. "Having said that, it's a welcome challenge as you quickly become complacent. It's the only circuit on the calendar to offer that variety. As for our preparations, we are ready, and the team has worked tirelessly since the last round. After every race meeting, the cars are stripped down to the bare frame, where Johnny (Adlem) and his team go over every inch of the cars looking for faults. If they find something, it is repaired or replaced. These are the things that can make a difference on race day and can have a significant impact on a championship," stated Adlem.

Round 3 will see three practice sessions on Friday, followed by Qualifying and two races. Racing will be live streamed on Saturday, so if you are unable to be in attendance, you will be able to view the races on the Adlem Auto Racing Facebook page.
