The third round of the South African Rok Cup will be taking place at Idube Raceway on 21 and 22 November and RS Kart will relish the opportunity to race and will be hoping to come away from the weekend with a solid championship points haul.
The team will field two very impressive youngsters in Kid Rok.
There is no rest for Mattao Mason who will be back on track again this weekend after competing in the Rotax Regional and Africa Cup last week. Mattao is no stranger to the podium and will be looking to elevate himself up the points table.
Troy van der Laan officially joins the team this weekend and will be racing in RS Kart colours. He will have all to race for as he tries to extend his points lead in the National standings. He currently leads the championship by ten points. The weekend will also serve as the fourth round of the Northern Regions Championship. Troy is fourth in these standings, with eight points to make up.
Luke Hill will be the “senior” of the team this weekend. He will be competing in Mini Rok, where he is currently seventh in the overall National championship and leads the under 10 division. There are only nine points between third and seventh in the standings. Luke is fourth in the Northern Regions points table and leads the under 10 division.
Conditions will see high humidity, hot temperatures and a 50% chance of rain, so competitors are likely to face all four seasons over the course of the weekend.
Whilst spectators will not be allowed, races will be streamed live on the Rok Cup SA Facebook page.
