It was a solid weekend (March 13-14) for the Monitor Net Racing team with Deon Holliday Jnr tightening his grip on the Pozidrive VW Challenge Class B points table at Zwartkops Raceway.
The Monitor Net Volkswagen Polo driver showed good pace throughout Friday's practice sessions which he followed up with second place on the Race 1 grid.
In Race 1 he took an early lead; holding onto it to take the win while setting the fastest lap to secure pole position for Race 2. Again, he controlled the pace upfront for a lights-to-flag win. This sees him extending his lead in the Class B Championship,
“It was a very hot, but extremely good day for us” said Holliday Jnr. “This was also my best performance at Zwartkops Raceway so we have even more reason to celebrate.”
The remainder of the Championship was however cast into doubt following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address to the nation on Sunday night regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. This led to Motorsport South Africa suspending all events scheduled for the next 30 days; of which Round 3 of the season at Zwartkops Raceway is one. MSA will monitor the situation prior to making further announcements regarding the remainder of the 2020 calendar.
“It’s not a nice situation for any of us to be in, but necessary precaution needs to be taken given the spread of the virus. As yet we do not know if and how this will impact our season after April, but be sure that we will communicate changes when we receive word from them. I would however like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to stay safe and help stop the spread of this virus.”
Monitor Net Racing would like to thank his sponsors Monitor Net, Centpart Motorparts, Fastprinting & Signs, and Centworx for making his 2020 season possible.
In addition, the team would also like to acknowledge and thank the series partners of the 2020 Pozidrive VW Challenge for making the season possible: Pozidrive, ATS Motorsport Supplies, Norbrake Distribution, Vanderlinde Developments and Yaskawa.
