The penultimate round of the 2019 Liqui Moly INEX Legends season will see the championship battle heading to Red Star Raceway with Jagger Robertson intent on retaining his lead after the October 11-12 race weekend.

Originally scheduled for Midvaal Raceway, the event was moved to allow the venue’s owners adequate time to conduct repairs to the circuit. Effectively this means that the final two rounds will be taking place around the clockwise orientation of the Delmas circuit. The previous visit to this circuit produced some of the championship’s closest racing in 2019; particularly the day’s final race.

Jagger Robertson (4724 Points) and defending champion Justin Robertson (4505 Points) are heading into the weekend with a healthy lead over third-placed Willie Erasmus (3985 Points). The change of venue could however work well into the latter’s favour with him being the overall winner in both the previous Red Star Raceway rounds. The trio at top are set to continue their fierce battle at the circuit that requires a firm balance between power and handling. While both Jagger and Justin Robertson can consolidate on the healthy points tallies they have collected during the first half of the season, Erasmus has been the leading points scorer in the second half. A factor to also consider will be the drop-round prior to the final points calculation.

Further back a fierce battle is expected for fourth place in the championship. Richard van Heerde (3398 Points) currently holds the position, but can expect challenges from Ian Upton (3388 Points) and Chris Hoy (3333 Points). Johann van de Venter (3238 Points) and season debutant Andre Larsson (3199) are also regularly bagging good results. Only 199 points separates this quintet who are all eager to head into the season finale holding the upper hand.

Ninth place Jason Loosemore (2810 Points) is set to miss Round 10 to focus on academic commitments which will open the door for Charl Roux (2500 Points) to gain a place while Gerhard Roux (1980 Points) will be looking to cement his eleventh place on the table. The weekend will also see Anton Repsold making his first outing for the 2019 season.

The race weekend will feature three practice sessions on Friday followed by Saturday’s three races. Saturday’s three races are scheduled to take place at:

  • 08:40 – Race 1 based on grid draw – 6 Laps
  • 11:55 – Race 2 inverted from the grid draw – 6 Laps
  • 15:25 – Race 2 inverted from the points table for the day – 8 Laps
