CASTROL EDGE PRE 1963 HISTORIC SPORTS GT AND PRODUCTION CAR EVENT
“The James Dean Generation” of cars with passion will be headed by Irvine Laidlaw Aston-Martin DBR̕ – a car very similar to what won the 1959, Le Mans 24 Hour with Castrol Shelby (of Cobra) fame. This is one of the most beautiful sports racers ever. Irvine Laidlaw will be challenge by Paolo Cavalieri in a Ferrari 250 GT of 1960. Two E-Type Jaguars and two D-Type Jaguars will also be in the top class.
Dick Sorensen has entered his newly rebuilt Nemises and Howard Robinson will be debuting the Lotus XV Alfa which has not been seen for almost 40 years. It is this car that came second in the 1960 9 Hour race at Grand Central and raced by Ernest Pieterse in the 1960 South African Grand Prix. This is a truly significant entry in the pre-1963 sports car class.
In order to capture the spirit of the early 9 Hour Races MGA’s, early Darts, Austin Healey’s will support the entry.
A Special class for the racing Austin A35’s, A40’s, Renault Dauphine and Alfas will be included in this event.
