Mikel Bezuidenhout will make another debut this coming weekend as he heads to the Celso Scribante Kart Track in Gqeberha for the MSA National Karting Championship opening round. Bezuidenhout has been racing for only a few months and has gotten accustomed to some things happening for the first time.
In recent months he debuted in the Senior MAX class and the OKN class. He made his circuit debut at Formula-K a few weeks back and will again be at a circuit for the first time. While one of only four OKN drivers in the field, the OKN class is still in its inaugural season, launched globally in 2023. Bezuidenhout will be intent on showing strongly in the class and looking for a national podium. He competed in OKN when the class debuted at the MSA Northern Regions ROK Karting Championship at Formula-k Kart Circuit, where he claimed an impressive double-podium placing. No doubt the Pretoria teenager will look to improve and claim his maiden victory.
“Another debut, another test,” said Bezuidenhout. “There has certainly not been a shortage of challenges this season, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s been a demanding few months already, juggling such a busy schedule on top of all the firsts. But it allows me to see what I am capable of and how I tackle adversity. I have a great coach backing me in Neil Basilio, and of course, the support I receive from my family is without question. I can’t wait to take to the circuit this weekend.”
Spectators are welcomed on the weekend, with Friday set aside for official practice. An entire racing program is set for Saturday, with the event also streamed live on the ROK Cup South Africa social media channels on Saturday.
