Youthstream is very pleased to announce that Latvia will continue to be part of the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar until 2023.

After the success of the 2019 MXGP of Latvia, the local Organizer and the Latvian Federation have recently extended their multi-year agreement with Youthstream to ensure the MXGP of Latvia will have a place on the FIM Motocross World Championship Calendar until the 2023 included. The renewed agreement shows not only the outstanding cooperation among Youthstream, the local organizers, the Latvian Motorcycle Federation and the Latvian Government, but it also comes as part of a rising interest in Latvia for Motocross. Every year there are more young motocross talents arising and more fans are following our thrilling sport.

Besides, local heroes such as former MX2 World champion Pauls Jonass, who has finished already twice on the MXGP podium in his rookie season and 2019 rising star Edvards Bidzans, who was crowned EMX85 Champion last July 2019, are playing an important role to attract new fans and important media such as Channel Sports Baltic and Play Sport+ that are broadcasting the MXGP series LIVE this season.

The FIM Motocross World Championship made his debut in Latvia in 2009 and Kegums has been in the calendar every year including a successful Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations held in 2014. With such an experience in organizing MXGP and MXoN events, this new agreement represents a culmination of partnership among all the parties.
Youthstream CEO David Luongo: “Youthstream is very proud to annonce the extending of the contract regarding the organization of the MXGP of Latvia in Kegums until 2023. The MXGP World Championship receives every year more demands from all around the world to host a Grand Prix. Kegums’s track has been on the calendar for many years, and it is very well appreciated by the MXGP paddock. We developed a great relationship with the Latvian Motorcycle Federation and Motocross is strongly supported by the national authorities. Finally, I want to thank Kristers Sergis, the organizer, with all his team for the quality of organization and the great relationship we have.”

LAMSF President Martinš Lazdovskis: “Nowdays the Motocross World Championship is expanding very widely thanks to Youthstream and it is a great honour for a small country like Latvia to stay in calendar for other 3 years. The natural track of Kegums every year attracts more and more fans from Baltic countries and rest of Europe. Helding this event is also very essential for development of our sport in Baltics as we have our motocross stars to follow.”

MXGP of Latvia Local Organizer Kristers Sergis: “I am proud and happy that Youthstream appreciates our investment into the MXGP of Latvia organizing process, which we are trying to improve every year. The whole team feels very fortunate to have been offered the opportunity to extend the contract until 2023. I would like to thank my team, Latvian Motosports Federation, and, of course, the Latvian government, for the chance granted to organize a world-class sports event here in Latvia. Also, an immense gratitude goes to the fans of our sport, making it a pleasure to welcome the elite of motocross in Kegums for the following 4 years.”
